My own personal response to terrorism is to be crushed by it. It is very hard for me to bounce back, though I respect and LOVE the people that get out there and respond, immediately in the face of it. I am sifting and sifting through my internal rubble...it is so awful. But, yes, we have to celebrate life. Cigarettes, cheek kissing and all.
Charlotte Moorenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5314334776379149827.post-36505971517194309892015-01-12T18:37:43.972-08:002015-01-12T18:37:43.972-08:00Beautiful, Kenny. You are right, we have to fight against both those who will use this as fodder for their anti-Islamic agenda as well as those who will use it for an anti-faith agenda. Faith is ineffable; and organized faith sometimes begets evil. But faith itself is not the enemy.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16144420733218365437noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5314334776379149827.post-29485932914176904082014-11-06T08:42:58.712-08:002014-11-06T08:42:58.712-08:00Thanks Kenny, for your thoughts. I can explain the two changes you describe.

The gate, which was not there during my time, was much needed, because derelicts used to relieve themselves in that elegant tunnel entrance, and on one ocassion when I was there, broke the curved glass, which was not only extremely expensive, but nearly impossible to replace.

The disc light fixtures always bothered me. FL Wright had some very bad habits that never seem to be mentioned when his name comes up One of them was that he never failed to gild the lily - and that is the very antithesis of what he was known for, In the case of this building, it was those hideous lights, which distracted and detracted from the beauty and grace of the space. Worse, every time they rained, they filled up with water, which left dirty rings.

The bad habit that never failed to be mentioned, when ever someone who had worked with him stopped by, was his arrogance and meanspiritedness, which too often spilled over into his designs. In particular, his bitterness over his lack of physical stature ruled his designs. The beautiful archways in that building were designed to clop anyone over 5'6" in the forehead, unless they walked to the left of the pathway, and the stairs to the offices ( which customers never saw) were so shallow that no one with a larger than size 6 woman's show could walk down them without falling. This was particularly dangerous in the 4" Maud Frizon heels - the Louboutin of the day - we all wore then ( and bought, at great employee discount, from the store). Nothing could be done about that arch, but I hope they replaced those stairs along with the other changes. Finally, there were the drawers. Oh, the drawers. Wright made them himself. Gorgeous shallow drawers designed to hold linens, lined the curved wall on the right side of the building. We couldn't use them at all, because if you opened one up, it caught on the one next to it.

But all of this paled next to the stunning ramp that circled the circumferance - and kept me physically fit, and most of all, the metallic dome. It oxidized into a rainbow of color, which constantly changed.

Wright cut a circular hole in the wall of the dome - no doubt another spiteful trick, and that is how we used it. The dome would scoop up sounds and throw them out that hole, broadcasting to the entire store. It was a natural loudspeaker that we used on unkind customers. We'd find an excuse to lure them into the dome and place them under the hole, where they'd continue their rant, but to the whole store. Soon everyone in town knew what their favorite A lister or celebrity was really like Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5314334776379149827.post-75451513952022774822014-05-02T03:31:39.125-07:002014-05-02T03:31:39.125-07:00Its a nice blog love to visit this keep blogging t...Its a nice blog love to visit this keep blogging thank you so much for sharing..

Packers & Movers
Movers & Packers
Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00378294834955414140noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5314334776379149827.post-42448071360560522472014-04-05T07:42:06.959-07:002014-04-05T07:42:06.959-07:00A good family friend recently said about my parent...A good family friend recently said about my parents, "Whatever they believed about God they did a lot of believing in other people."
